Mythbusters: Quantum vs night storage heaters
Designed, developed and manufactured in the UK by Dimplex, the Quantum uses low-cost energy to make it the most economical off-peak electric heating system on the market today. It is an award-winning heater that totally transforms the way you heat your home and is the perfect replacement for your old, outdated night storage heater – but what exactly can it offer that a traditional night storage heater cannot?

Britain’s Fuel Poverty Crisis: Part one
Whilst many relish the arrival of the winter months with dreams of a white Christmas and cosy gatherings on cold dark nights, the stark truth for many is that this time of the year creates anxiety and genuine fear as fuel poverty continues to blight households across the UK. From inner-city suburbs to remote Scottish islands, Government statistics paint a bleak picture of families, couples and individuals all struggling to heat their homes due to cost.

EcoDesign: Everything you need to know
Remember when we all had to change our lightbulbs to their energy saving equivalents? That was all down to EcoDesign, a piece of Europe wide legislation, which this January will turn its attentions to electrical heating products to ensure that they perform better both for the customers and for the environment. To meet the requirements of this latest legislation new heater controls have been developed, resulting in less harm to the environment and ongoing energy savings for you the user.

Warmer Places for People
Located close to the West Sussex coastline in Worthing, Carolyn House is an age-exclusive development with 72 flats, offering a mix of one and two-bedroom dwellings spread over three storeys, created for residents aged 60 or over.

Part two: Fuel poverty in electrically heated homes
Around 2.2million households in the UK are electrically heated, which accounts for 8.5% of all homes. This includes storage heating (1.7million), direct acting heating systems (0.5million) and heat pumps (less than 0.1million). In total, 16% of electrically heated homes in England and 50% of electrically heated homes in Scotland are living in fuel poverty - a total of 454,480 households.

Part three: How does it happen?
There are two main reasons why people are left paying over the odds for their electric heating system. These issues need to be examined and be explored as to how they could be resolved using existing, proven, viable technologies.

The benefits of multi-purpose heaters in winter
Multi-purpose heaters are an often overlooked product, but their benefits simply cannot be denied. The Dimplex Coldwatcher is perfect for the areas inside your home that require frost protection - be it your loft, greenhouse or shed, and due to their thermostatic controls and low heat output, are incredibly economical to run. Now it is winter, it’s time to invest a little to protect your spaces and belongings from a lot of damage.

Part four: Real life solution
Concluding our current series on fuel poverty, we explore how Dimplex Quantum and Q-Rad heaters were implemented to bring a vast saving to a young couple in their 1960s property, and acts as an example of how Dimplex products can help those who are fuel poor.

Helping to prevent Hypothermia
Hypothermia is clinically defined as a core body temperature of 35°C and mild forms can be incredibly difficult to detect. The fact is that just a one-degree decline in core body temperature slows reaction time and impairs judgement, at 35°C speech is slurred, thinking becomes sluggish and rational decision making is impaired. Consciousness is fully lost at 30°C.

Look after your finances after Christmas
It’s a new year, which means many of us will have made promises to eat healthier, be more active, and spend our money a little more wisely. Whilst our self-restraint to resist one more mince pie may have waivered, Dimplex can certainly help you with ensuring you get the most for your money when it comes to keeping your home cosy and warm during the winter season.

Mythbusters: Oil-filled vs. Oil-free radiators
Dimplex portable radiators are available in two types of technology, either traditional Oil-filled variants or patented Oil-free versions. They are both incredibly durable and, unlike fan heaters or convectors, offer a combination of both convected and radiant heat, making them suitable to heat whole rooms or provide a personal form of heating. But what exactly is the difference between them?
